Microsoft has stepped in to stop Windows 11 users with LG monitors from being bombarded with annoying McAfee pop-ups. In response to complaints about LG bloatware, the Microsoft Windows giant, Pavan Davuluri said that LG has agreed to disable the McAfee pop-up program from its LG Monitor App Installer, and promised that Microsoft “will continue to do well here with our natural partners.”
This violation follows the barking about large pop-up ads for McAfee antivirus and LG apps that appear on Windows 11 PCs when connected to LG administrators. Once connected, the Windows driver updater silently installed the LG Monitor App Installer update without the user’s permission – with reports of automatic installation. starting in 2024.
LG defended its actions in a lengthy, unconfirmed statement posted New Windows that seems to miss the point:
LG Electronics also says that McAfee is not installed automatically and will not be installed without the user’s permission. LG Monitor App Installer is distributed through Microsoft’s Windows distribution system, which includes McAfee as an option. collect, or transmit customer information.”
LG isn’t the only company pushing the obvious, it is SeasideTom Warren has already realized this Dell similarly installs-auto the Alienware Command Center program on Windows when connected to the Alienware administrator. Tom also found out recently that LG is pushing advertising notifications on its televisions for startersso Microsoft’s intervention can only stretch so far.
