The world champion criticizes the actions of tango stars and confirms that they are “not suitable for football”.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has sharpened his tone towards Argentina’s players after he described the aftermath of the 2026 World Cup final as “unacceptable” in his first direct comments on the final clash between the two teams.
Spain won the World Cup for the second time in their history by beating Argentina 0-0 after extra time at MetLife Stadium last Sunday, before celebrations turned into chaos and clashes between players from both teams.
De La Fuente said during his speech on Spanish television. “At that moment I was not aware of what happened because I was celebrating with the players, but what happened after the game is unacceptable in any way.”
He added, as highlighted by the network RCC:French. “What we saw is intolerable and unacceptable. Players at this level, led by a great coach, must also have felt bad when they saw those actions. These are scenes not worthy of football.”

The end of the match saw widespread clashes, most notably Leandro Paredes’ involvement in violent clashes with a number of Spanish players, while Nahuel Molina hit Rodri and Fabian Ayala, Lionel Scaloni’s assistant coach, was accused of assaulting Dani Olmo during the final chaos that followed.
The coach of “La Roja” praised the reaction of his players, stressing that they took the situation calmly despite the provocations. He said: “I would like to commend the behavior of our players in the face of such attacks and provocations, they kept their composure and kept their sportsmanship to the end.”
FIFA launched an official investigation into the events following the final to determine responsibility and take appropriate action against those involved.
