Manchester United have signed Leicester City goalkeeper Janina Leitzig for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old becomes their second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Andrea Medina.
It is believed that the former Germany youth international has signed a three-year deal with United after they triggered the release clause in his Leicester contract, which was renewed until 2025.
Leitzig stayed at Leicester for three years, initially on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich, where he became a regular starter.
She went on to make nearly 70 appearances in all competitions but was unable to save Leicester from Women’s Super League relegation last season.
“It’s a real honor to be a Manchester United player,” Leitzig said.
“I am ready to bring all my experience of competing at the highest level to help the team have a successful season.
“I’m joining a team of really good goalkeepers. Everyone has told me about the great environment they’ve created.
“I can’t wait to push everyone together to maintain the high performance standards this club deserves.”
Leitzig has been a long-term target for United and BBC Sport first reported in 2023 that they had made contact with the German goalkeeper while he was on loan at Leicester.
He will wear the number 25 shirt of Manchester United.
