Charlie Hull, Lottie Wade and Georgia Hall all endured tough days on the golf course, dropping their first round under par as Jenny Sheen and Lauren Coughlin moved to take the co-lead at the ISPS Handa Scottish Open.
Sheen and Coughlin both shot six-under-par 66s in windy conditions at Dundonald Links on Thursday. They are one shot clear of South Korea’s Ae Lim Kim, Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson is four under.
Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist enjoyed a brilliant day on the course, closing at two-under par in her first round, and could have gone on to join her compatriot Pettersson had she not bogeyed two of her last three holes.

Charlie Hull hits his birdie putt off the green and makes a NINE on the fifth hole
The wind began to pick up in the afternoon, with many players working hard against the conditions, including Hall, who finished his round at six over par, thanks to a quadruple bogey at the fifth.
Hull was putting up for a birdie and simply tapped the ball in with his putter, but the ball caught a slope and went behind the green. He twice failed to chip back onto the green, before getting back and holing out, but it proved costly, with Hull wrapping up his round at six over par.
Defending champion Wade struggled to find momentum early, going three over through his first four holes, as he carded a two-over-par 74.
