Argentinian player Thiago Almada is close to leaving his club Atletico Madrid during the current summer Mercato.
According to “AS newspaperBrazilian Flamengo are in advanced talks to sign Almada, while Atletico Madrid are expected to receive 27 million euros from the deal.
“Flamengo” has reached an agreement on personal terms with the player after receiving the green light from “Atletico” Madrid to negotiate with his representatives.
The Madrid club signed Almada a year ago after his impressive performance with Lyon, where he paid €20 million for 50% of his rights.
But the player did not live up to expectations in his first season in the Atlético Madrid shirt, and therefore the club began to look for an exit for him even before the start of the World Cup to avoid a further drop in his market value.
In this context, Matteo Allemani set his exit price at the same price that the club paid for his inclusion. However, Flamengo, who have a strong relationship with Atletico Madrid, are determined to raise their offer.
Sources confirm to AS newspaper that the deal could be concluded for a total of 27 million euros ($30 million). For now, all that remains is to agree on the payment mechanism, which is not expected to be an obstacle to the completion of the transaction.
Flamengo are keen to get back into contention for all the titles and are ready to spend big again this summer.
After the historic return of Lucas Paqueta at the beginning of the year, it is the turn of Thiago Almada, who will sign a long-term contract for four seasons until 2030.
As revealed by journalist Raisa Simplizio, the player’s representatives will travel to Rio de Janeiro later this week to put the final touches on the deal and fulfill coach Leonardo Jardim’s last wishes.
