The Uruguayan star will join “Barcelona”.
Spanish press reports have revealed an interesting development regarding the future of Saudi Al Hilal forward Darwin Nunes and his possible move to Barcelona in the current summer transfer window.
Nunez joined Al Hilal last summer in a €55m deal from Liverpool after a torturous spell in the Premier League but failed to establish himself in the squad, so a move away this summer has become a strong option.
According to the newspaper “SportsSpain’s Nunez is ready to make a big financial sacrifice to achieve his dream of wearing the Barcelona shirt, as he does not mind giving up his huge salary at Al Hilal if it facilitates his move to the Catalan club.
The newspaper adds that the Uruguayan striker is awaiting developments in the transfer market with attempts to reach an agreement with Al Hilal that would allow him to leave, with the Saudi club insisting on returning part of the money they paid him and preferring not to break the contract permanently, leaving him open to a loan if all parties reach an agreement.
The newspaper notes that Nunez’s history with Barcelona is not new, as he came very close to joining the Catalan club in 2020 when he was a player at Almeria after Barcelona offered to acquire 50% of his rights, before Portugal’s Benfica snapped him up for 33 million euros, after which he made his way to European stars.
Despite Núñez’s clear desire to move to Barcelona, the Catalan club’s management are still prioritizing Argentine Julián Alvarez to strengthen the striker’s position, but are also aware that the Al Hilal striker could become a realistic option if the first deal falls through in the coming days.
