When the door of opportunity opened for Jorja Iono, true to his Samoan heritage, he didn’t just walk through it, he smashed it.
The Swansea teenager was outstanding on her Women’s Six Nations debut against Scotland, and was rewarded with starts against France and England.
Aiono looked at home against the game’s big hitters and was admired for his energy and work rate.
“I play like my dad,” admitted 19-year-old Locke, daughter of former Neath, BW Vale, Glamorgan Wanderers and Llandovery back-row forward Neo.
“My father is from Samoa, he was also a big career. He played in New Zealand and Australia.
“My uncle (Afa Iono) captained the Samoa Sevens, which is really great, and my brother played for the Under-20s.
“We all support each other, and with Cecilia (Tuipulotu) Polynesian, she took me under her wing… We’re kind of a family.”
