The first Framework laptop ships with limited RAM


RAMageddon has claimed another victim, and Framework is announcing “major and unfortunate” price changes for its upcoming laptop – which also affect pre-orders. Memory configuration for Laptop 13 Pro has been updated after Framework said it received price changes from its memory suppliers that “more than double the original price.”

Although the Framework claims to have enough LPCAMM2 modules on hand to cover all of its predecessors, it’s not the perfect mix of 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB modules to fit all configurations. The company now to inform other customers that the memory configuration (and therefore, the price) on their Laptop 13 Pro has been changed. Framework has apologized for the changes, and is offering cancellations and full refunds to customers who are unhappy with their new configuration.

The current updates and prices for new orders on the Framework website have also been updated, now. starting at $1,599 on the already built-in Intel Core Ultra 5 325, 16GB of memory, and 512GB of storage – $100 more than its original announcement.
