One last step before Zizou.. The French Federation announces the date of the expected announcement
The French Football Federation has announced the date of the official unveiling of France’s new coach, in a move that paves the way for historic star Zinedine Zidane to return to training after a five-year absence.
The French Federation announced Official announcementToday, Thursday, next Tuesday, in the presence of its president Philippe Diallo, a press conference will be organized to introduce the new coach of the “Roosters”, the successor of the coach Didier Deschamps, who will be Zidane, several reliable newspapers report.
“The president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, will hold a press conference at the headquarters of the federation on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m.,” adding that the conference will take place after an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee, which will take place on the same day, during which the new coach will be introduced.
The statement of the French Federation came to confirm The date was announced by local newspapers yesterday, Wednesday evening.
Thus, the French Federation will not organize a farewell evening for Deschamps, who headed the technical staff for 14 years during his career in the national team, but will focus on the announcement of his expected successor.
Zidane is set to return to the world of coaching after leaving Real Madrid in June 2021, after turning down numerous offers in recent years, preferring to wait for the opportunity to lead the French national team, a goal with which his name is constantly associated.
Zidane is considered the most likely candidate to replace Deschamps, his former teammate in the France team that won the 1998 World Cup.
Despite recent salary cap reforms approved by the French parliament, Zidane’s salary will not be affected by the restrictions after he received a special exemption from the relevant government agencies.
Zidane will not have long to adapt to his new position, as he faces strong opposition since his first matches with the French national team during the international break from next September to October.
Zidane will begin his mission against Turkey on September 25, before visiting Belgium on the 28th of the same month, before playing his first match at the Stade de France on October 2 against Italy in a match that carries special symbolism after five years at Juventus.
The importance of facing Italy increases if rumors are true that Deschamps could take over as Italy coach following his departure from France.
France will continue their campaign in the Europa League by meeting Belgium again on October 5, then away to Italy on November 12, before finishing the group stage by hosting Turkey on November 15.
