Man City have announced that Phil Foden has signed a new contract at the club.
The 26-year-old – whose previous contract is due to expire next summer – has agreed to stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
Speaking in an interview published on the club’s official media channels, Foden said: “Committing my future to City means everything to me.

“Playing for this club is what I’ve always wanted to do and it’s always an honor to wear the shirt.
“It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period winning so many titles, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more.
“I can only thank the club, staff, teammates and supporters who continue to put their faith in me and believe that I have given everything I can for City and I hope I will be able to repay you in the years to come.

Sky Sports football journalist Laura Hunter says Enzo Maresca will not be given time to excel as Manchester City boss.
“I can’t wait to work with Enzo (Maresca) again. He was fantastic during the Treble season – someone I respected and loved working with. It’s exciting to have him back here.

Since making his debut in a Champions League game against Feyenoord on 21 November 2017, Foden has made 369 appearances for City’s first team and scored 110 goals.

In 2025/26, he played 50 times, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.
Alongside John Stones and Bernardo Silva – who both left the Etihad this summer – the academy graduate is the most decorated player in the club’s history, having won 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, three FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, one club title and three titles.
Foden needs to reinvent itself – now might be the time

The curious case of Phil Foden, once a boy wonder, is now something to think about. His omission from this summer’s England group was expected but no less disappointing.
This is a player around whom England have built their Euro 2024 bid.
Since then, the 26-year-old has only shown glimpses of his immense talent. Consistency failed him. Pep Guardiola was forced to come to his aid a couple of times last season, insisting he is still “the top, top player”, but it’s clear he no longer believes in the big games.
Against that backdrop, a new deal seems oddly timely.
And yet, it has some logic. City parted ways with Bernardo Silva this summer, leaving a big void in midfield. Guardiola himself is gone. Foden is still a cohesive force, a player beloved by fans for his Mancunian roots and maverick style.
Now it is up to Enzo Maresca, who knows Foden well, to unlock the quality within him. The deal reflects the fact that this next season is likely to be Foden’s peak year. A calculated risk, but an acceptable one.
