Glasgow is set to host the world for a reduced Commonwealth Games.

The decision not only puts the future of 2026 in doubt, but also the Games as a whole.

But in September 2024, a contract was reached, supported by the Scottish government Glasgow to host a “moderate back, but high quality” event.

It will be staged at four venues spanning eight miles – Scotstoun Stadium, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow International Arena and the Scottish Events Campus (SEC).

In the year In 2014 the budget for the Games was £543m but no public money was spent on the 23rd edition, which will cost a total of £150m.

The CGF is investing £100m of this, with the remainder coming from commercial revenue sources such as ticketing, sponsorship, broadcast rights and merchandise.

Athletics, cycling and swimming have proved popular but tickets are still available for many events.
