Wales Fire captain Phil Salt helped the 47ers start the 2026 season unbeaten with a six-nil win over South Braves at Southampton.

Former world number one-ranked T20 batsman Salt is the all-time leader in centuries with 1,138 runs in five seasons with his former team Manchester United.

He signed for the fire as a captain Ahead of this year’s tournament, the Welsh franchise, who finished bottom of the men’s and women’s table last season, are aiming to win the trophy for the first time in their history.

David Miller struggled to find his rhythm early in the innings but finished strong for the Brave before he was out with a 35-ball 44, which lifted the hosts to 135-7, which ultimately proved not to be enough.
