Cameron Menzies needed medical attention after falling ill in the second round of the World Cup against Ross Smith at Blackpool on Wednesday.
When he was leading the game 2-1, the Scottish Menzies got out of his shoes and was unsteady when the Englishman Smith and the referee led him safely from the stage.
Menzies was later given medical clearance at the back of the stage but was unable to return to the stage, and it was confirmed that he had lost the match.
The PDC said: “Cameron developed high blood pressure, which caused him to feel dizzy and then faint.
“Following an assessment by the on-site medical team, Cameron was found to be well enough to return home.
“We wish Cameron all the best and look forward to seeing him back in action soon.”
