WATCH: Louvre museum opens gallery after jewels

The Galerie d’Apollon (Gallery of Apollo) at the Louvre Museum in Paris reopened to visitors on Wednesday, nine months after the theft of millions of jewels.

But the gallery, which once housed the French crown jewels, reopened without a trace.

“It’s a place to see in the Louvre, but it doesn’t house the crown jewels and precious stones that are on display in secure areas in the museum,” said museum director Christophe Leribault.

In the year On October 19, masked thieves used a car with mechanical ladders mounted on it to gain access to the gallery through a balcony.

Police have arrested four people who prosecutors say are thieves – but the stolen items have still not been recovered.
