The latest addition to Philips’ Sonicare line of smart electric toothbrushes could save you the hassle of brushing. The The Next Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige uses a third-generation AI model to provide real-time feedback on how you’re munching on the shiny ring on its base, while an on-screen monitor shows areas of your mouth that may need the most attention when you think you’re done.
The Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige is expected to launch in Europe and the US this fall, with a larger global rollout in 2027. Pricing has not been announced, but Old versions sell for $430and you can expect the new one to be more expensive.
This toothbrush holder lets you switch between eight cleaning modes, including gum health, extra hygiene, and privacy options. In order to ensure that you do not press too hard when washing, damaging it, the shiny ring at the base of the brush changes color to show when you need to be a little gentler. But the 9900 Prestige also uses pressure sensors to adjust its power when you apply more pressure so that the bristles move easily around your mouth.
The monitor also displays what Philips calls an oral map that represents your teeth and gums in 12 different areas displayed in a blue or orange cloud, showing how well your brushing is doing. The 9900 Prestige monitors its movements in your mouth while you brush and the areas it deems need a little light attention so you know the areas you need to target during the second pass.
