Samsung’s new flagship is here. At Galaxy Unpacked, the company announced the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. All three devices will be available on August 7, but you can order them now starting at $1,199.99, $1,899.99, and $2,099.99, respectively.
You may have noticed that the Samsung foldable series looks a little different this year. Instead of just changing the Galaxy Z Fold 7Samsung now has two notebooks: the more compact Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the shorter, larger (folding) Galaxy Z Fold 8 which is more focused on entertainment. The Galaxy Z Flip 8, meanwhile, is lighter and lighter than its predecessor, but otherwise has the same design as Jumping 7.
All three phones also have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor for the Galaxy and ship with Android 17 and One UI 9, which adds new AI features such as Gemini Intelligence task automation and Now Nudge, which provides useful suggestions as an event to your calendar.

Unlike the larger Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which focuses on design, the Z Fold 8 is designed to be fun, with a wider, shorter form factor that feels like a small tablet when unfolded. The 4:3 internal display is better for reading and gaming than previous Fold models. It also shares many of the Ultra’s features, including Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology to keep the screen invisible, a bright 120Hz OLED display, and the Galaxy’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Samsung has also upgraded the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery to a larger 4,800mAh silicon-carbon cell, though it drops the telephoto lens found on the Fold 7 and Fold 8 Ultra in favor of a dual-camera system.

Just like its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 has a clamshell design with a large 6.9-inch OLED display and a 4.1-inch OLED screen that allows you to view notifications, reply to messages, and access apps without opening the phone. It also has a 50-megapixel main camera paired with a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 4,300mAh battery.
The main changes are that it is thinner and lighter, and now runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor for the Galaxy. Samsung has also made the cover perfect. Now you can access notifications, quick settings, and a full app drawer with a simple swipe gesture. You don’t need the Samsung Good Lock app to unlock apps from the external display.
