In a recent shift in military strategy, Ukraine has used drone carriers and submarines to send armed or explosive robots into battle.
Drone-assisted deployments have enabled slow-moving robots to traverse Russia’s complex terrain and defenses, carrying out a rare robotic attack on rival sites. Such measures also reflect the ongoing attempts by the Ukrainian military to use drones and robots to eliminate Russian military advantage in personnel and to protect the Ukrainian military from terrorist attacks.
On July 19, the Russian military’s Telegram group posted a video showing a Ukrainian hexacopter carrying a robot suspended by a cable, according to Ukrainian government-run news United24. Russia’s Telegraph channel described a Ukrainian heavy-duty bomber as sending a four-wheeled ARK-1 robot armed with anti-tank mines on the ground as it overran a Russian military base – and it appears to have elicited angry comments from Kremlin social media users.
