Emily Scarratt has joined the Red Roses coaching staff on a permanent basis.

England’s record goalscorer Emily Scarratt has dedicated her life to the Red Roses coaching staff.

The 36-year-old will join John Michell’s squad on an interim basis to lead the attack and support her as coach of this year’s Women’s Six Nations.

England following the collapse Eighth consecutive Women’s Six Nations title In May, Scarratt returned as assistant coach at Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) side Loughborough Lightning.

She has now left her role with Loughborough after joining the Red Roses on a permanent basis.

“The Six Nations was challenging but equally rewarding,” Scarratt said.

“As a player I spent many years around the Red Rose, so stepping into a coaching role in the same environment was a new experience and a bit daunting at times.

“There were a lot of uncertainties, but I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and learned a lot.

“There is great ambition in this team, and I am proud to be a part of the journey as we continue to grow and build.”

Leaving Loughborough after eight years as a player and manager, the two-time World Cup winner added: “I’m surrounded by amazing people who challenge me and support me in every way.”

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved with the club. I look back on my time with great gratitude. Thank you for everything.”

Former England batting coach Lou Meadows has left the event after helping England to victory. Rugby World Cup at the sold-out Allianz Stadium last September.

Scarratt, who was sidelined after the World Cup win, has helped the Red Roses attack earn 27 more points from the 2025 Women’s Six Nations in 2026.

“Emily has had a huge impact on our community in a coaching capacity, and has been a huge asset with the insight, composure and experience she brings every day during the Six Nations,” added Mitchell.
