Liverpool Football Club banned after police seize £1.2m worth of assets from ticket sales

Liverpool More than 400 have been handed lifetime bans after more than £1.2m of assets linked to illegal ticket sales were seized by police.

The club has teamed up with Merseyside Police to seize assets from organized ticket drives.

The police operation focused on laundering the proceeds of crime from illegal ticket sales and ran alongside the club’s move to transfer tickets online and at the ground.

The club has handed out 432 lifetime bans to guilty parties since then, as well as 115 indefinite bans.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Suffield said: “This is an excellent example of working within and between us. Liverpool Football Club for the benefit of the fan and the general public.

All they’re trying to do is buy tickets to support their team, and we always take action to protect true fans who fall victim to the rush.

The money from the seized properties was split between Merseyside Police and the Home Office.

Last year in BBC Sport explained Liverpool It has closed 145,000 ticket accounts in the last two years.

And just last season, Liverpool It has analyzed nearly 700,000 ticket registrations, 67,663 suspected fake accounts have been suspended or deleted, and another 121,379 accounts are under investigation.

A further 3,847 tickets have been canceled for the 2025-26 season. They are now on sale as general admission tickets, increasing the number available to genuine fans.

There has been a significant increase in targeted stoppages on the club’s matchdays, which has resulted in accounts with suspicious activity not being found.

These stops average 300 per home game at Anfield and away games in the Premier League and Europe.
