US attacks Iran for 11th night in a row | US-Israel War on Iran News


The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said it has ended its 11th consecutive airstrikes against Iran to continue undermining “the country’s ability to threaten commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz”.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the US military was targeting “Iran’s military facilities, naval capabilities, airfields, drone depots, and military facilities”.

Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi, from Tehran, said that “a huge explosion was heard in the capital of Iran”, and that air defenses were launched in various places in Tehran.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that explosions could be heard in parts of Bushehr, in southern Iran. Several explosions were also heard around Sirik in southern Iran, according to the Fars news agency.

Areas near the cities of Behbahan and Omidiyeh in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province were under fire from US missiles, the province’s deputy ambassador told the Fars news agency.

Fars also reported that the US military had attacked a military base outside Tabriz in northwestern Iran. Citing local crisis management officials, the news agency said the attack occurred at around 2:40am local time (23:10 GMT) and hit a military zone near the city. It said that no violence has taken place inside the city.

The attacks on Tabriz and Tehran mark a departure from recent developments, which have focused on southern Iran and the region around the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti military said its air defenses were preventing an attack by Iran. Iran has repeatedly attacked Gulf states, including Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, since the U.S. launched another attack this month.

Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Congress on Tuesday that the cost of the war in Iran has reached $37.5bn. He said the Pentagon needs $90bn in additional funding.

Hegseth faced a lot of pressure from Democrat lawmakers.

Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia, who is up for re-election later this year, disputed Hegseth’s claims that Iran’s military was “destroyed” in light of its demands for more money.

US President Donald Trump has said he plans to attack Iran’s suspected Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site “soon, and very seriously”.

Responding to Trump’s threats, Khatam al-Anbiya Central in Iran said there would be an increase in violence in the region if the US attacks the country’s nuclear facilities.

In announcing the end of the 11 night attacks, CENTCOM said that, in the last three months, Iran “attacked 30 commercial vessels that pass through the international seas important for regional and international trade”.

“The unprovoked attack has put thousands of innocent sailors at risk and undermined the freedom of navigation,” it said.

Despite the violence, CENTCOM said, the Strait of Hormuz “remains open to commercial vessels”, adding that since the beginning of May, the US military “has helped divert approximately 900 commercial vessels with 450 million barrels of crude oil”.
