Argentina fans are chanting Scaloni’s name and the coach is refusing to decide his future
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni wept again at a reception in his hometown of Bogato after returning from the 2026 World Cup, stressing that losing the final to Spain was still a painful moment, after he also broke down in tears at the post-final press conference.
Scalloni was welcomed by a large crowd in the Santa Fe state town, where hundreds gathered to welcome him, but the Tango coach could not hold back tears as he spoke about losing the title.

He added in a message that contained a sincere confession. “Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. We have to admit that Spain played better and that makes us better too.”
The Argentinian coach emphasized that his country fought until the last moments, despite the superiority of the opponent, explaining. “The feeling is always the same, that we fight until the end when things don’t go our way. Like our Argentinians, we have to realize that the opponent is also playing and he can be better than you, but despite that, we made it difficult for him.”
Scaloni’s future raises questions
