Kylian Mbappe not only established himself as a star on the pitch, but continued to establish his presence as a global football icon after being restored to the cover of the latest edition of the EA Sports FC game.
EA Sports has announced the selection of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe as the cover star of the special Ultimate Edition of EA Sports FC 27, returning to the flagship of the series after a four-year absence.
The game is slated for release in mid-September 2026, while this is the fourth time Mbappe has appeared on the cover of EA’s most popular soccer game, formerly known as EA Sports FIFA.
The French striker himself confirmed the news by sharing the official image of the shirt on social media, accompanied by the simple message: “I’m back”.

In this appearance, Mbappe equaled Argentina’s Lionel Messi’s record, after each of them appeared on the cover of the game four times, while England’s Wayne Rooney remains in the lead with six, followed by Brazil’s Ronaldinho with five. EA Sports representative Jeff Sharm, commenting on the selection of the French star, said:
The announcement of Mbappe’s selection came days after his brilliance at the 2026 World Cup, where he led France to the semi-finals before losing to Spain, who went on to win the title at the expense of Argentina in the final.
Despite France’s failure to reach the final, Mbappe won the World Cup Golden Boot after scoring 10 goals, becoming the first player in football history to win the World Cup top scorer award twice.
In the same tournament, the Real Madrid forward also became the world’s all-time top goalscorer, taking his tally to 22, overtaking Lionel Messi (21), a feat he achieved at the age of 27, with the possibility of increasing his tally later if he continues his international career.
