Peak Design’s modular Field Bracket has an access tag

I am a very stupid person. So serious, that I have AirTags hanging from almost every camera I own. Did I leave my camera in Uber? Yes. Did I leave it on the plane? Also yes. For me, access tags are essential for my cameras.

The problem is, attaching a tag to a camera is always difficult. Now I hang them on my camera strap like a 2001 phone charm. They’re ugly, and they get in the way when I’m trying to focus on a shot. But Peak Design thinks it has the answer in its new Field Bracket system, which launched today on Kickstarter, starting at $150 for early birds.

The Peak Design Field Bracket it’s part L-Bracket, part right, part cheese plate. It is designed for photographers and videographers who want to quickly switch between modes and modes on their tripod, or sometimes want to attach a light or microphone to their camera when there is no dedicated space for that. But perhaps the most appealing feature, for me, is that the bracket comes with a dedicated Finder Tag slot.

Peak’s Beacon Finder Tag is a Peak Design tool that works with Apple Find My and Google Find Hub. This means that it will work with both Apple and Android phones, so you don’t have to worry about losing access to the camera when you switch environments. The sign uses a standard CR2025 battery, which Peak says is rated for up to 6 months. It’s also IP67 rated for water and dust resistance, and fits inside an L-bracket.

The Beacon Finder Tag is one of the products that Peak Design sells alongside the Field Bracket. The first thing you’ll buy is an L-bracket, but when it comes to your camera, you’ll have access to additional accessories like a hand grip, finger grip, and cheese plate. Peak says the Field Bracket will work with most ARCA-compatible tripods, and won’t get in the way if you use it with its tripod or camera cables. Instead, the bracket provided slots for your Peak Design camera cable, so you don’t have to sacrifice what you have to use the bracket.

Peak calls the L-bracket’s vertical connector the Field Latch, and it uses the company’s new locking system to attach and remove it without any tools. This is where you attach the cheese plate of your choice, which pops out of a flexible slot if you want to access ports or run cables from the camera.

Of course, you should choose the connector you want for the camera you have, considering that it is designed for that body. At launch, most of the supported cameras are new, or very new in each camera line. You can see a list of connections Here. The bracket itself will have an MSRP of $149.95, and if you want a bundle of all the items offered here, you can get everything for $269.80. As usual, Peak Design is offering a Kickstarter discount, which puts the bracket at $125 and the bundle at $199, while supplies last.
