Google has announced Gemini 3.6 Flash and cybersecurity AI, teasing 3.5 Pro and Gemini 4

Google announced a major update to its AI models at I/O in May with the release of Gemini 3.5 Flash, and it’s not slowing down. The company revealed three new AI models todayincluding its first Gemini model focused on cybersecurity. However, none of these new models have been delayed by Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was supposed to be launched in June.

Gemini 3.5 Flash, which was star of the show at I/Oit has already been removed. Instead, developers and users will get Gemini 3.6 Flash. Google makes the usual claims about this brand—it’s a bit more efficient and better at typing, and it has a lot of features.

Google says the 3.6 Flash update was made in response to user feedback on the 3.5 release. In general, Gemini 3.5 Flash didn’t seem to live up to Google’s promises in code generation. Perhaps this is just a result of Google’s greater focus on efficiency as businesses begin to worry about the value of AI tokens.
