Portuguese Dominigos Suarez, CEO of Saudi Al-Ittihad Club, revealed the reason for choosing German coach Jens Wiesing as the main team next season, replacing Portuguese Sergio Conceição.

Al-Ittihad Club announced the appointment of Wissing as first team technical director, replacing Conceicao. He was sacked at the end of last season after failing to lead the team to any titles.

Suarez said in the “Al-Ittihad” video posted on the “X” website by his official user account. “The selection of our coach, Mr. Jens Vissing, was very important and an essential part of the preparation for the new season.”

He added: “We have known Mr. Wissing for some time and I have worked with him before. We know he is a young, very talented and ambitious coach, and he has a great desire to succeed with Al-Ittihad Club.”

He added: “As for his technical staff, it is a mix of international assistant coaches from different regions as well as Saudi coaches.”

He concluded. “Integrating these skills takes us to a new level, and I think it’s the right level to get the right results in the coming weeks and months.”

Notably, Wissing’s most successful career experience came in the second half of last season when he led Japan’s Gamba Osaka to their first ever Champions League 2nd title after defeating Al-Nasr in the final.
