It is understood that a £39m (€46m) bid for Somerville from the Serie A club was rejected on Monday.
News of Al Hilal’s late bid for Summerville was first reported by Sky in Gianluca di Marzio, Italy on Tuesday afternoon.
The Saudi club’s offer – nearly double the price of Roma’s first offer of £39m – was quickly accepted by West Ham.
Somerville has scored eight goals in 56 appearances for West Ham so far
If the move goes through, Somerville will be the third-highest sale in West Ham’s history behind Declan Rice and Mateus Fernandes.
The Hammers, who were relegated to the Championship, will collect more than £150m from Somerville and Fernandes this summer if this sale goes through.
Somerville played 34 times for West Ham in 2025/26, scoring seven goals and assisting a further five.
The 24-year-old appeared in all four of the Netherlands’ matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring two goals and assisting two more.
