Ipswich complete £20m deal for Leicester City winger Abdul Fattou

Ipswich Town Leicester have continued their preparations for their return to the Premier League by signing Ghanaian winger Abdul Fattou from Leicester City for £20m.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal and joins Gary O’Neill’s side after scoring 16 goals in 100 games for Leicester since joining from Sporting in 2023.

Fatou has arrived at Portman Road with Ipswich willing to let winger Jaden Filozine leave, with the 24-year-old attracting interest from Europe.

He has a list of admirers – believed to include Bologna, Roma and Benfica – and Ipswich would approve a move if a suitable offer came in.

Fatau is Tractor Boys’ fifth summer signing after the striker Emerson joined from Toulouse A club record fee of around £26m earlier this month.

“The club’s ambitions are very exciting and I look forward to being a part of it as we prepare for the Premier League season,” said Fatau.

“Having spoken to the manager, I know what the expectations are and I’m looking forward to meeting my team-mates and getting to work.

“I played against Ipswich a few times when I was in England and I know how passionate the fans are for the club, so I’m excited to play for them and show what I can do.”

Fatou was part of the Foxes squad that were relegated from the Championship last season, with Leicester now preparing for their second season in the third tier of English football.

The Tractor Boys finished second in the championship last season and hosted Sunderland in their top-flight opener on August 22.
