Zidane has signed a training contract with France

French legend Zinedine Zidane has decided his coaching future by officially signing a contract to lead the French national football team until mid-2030, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his official Instagram account on Tuesday evening.

Romano said the deal has been fully resolved and Zidane, 54, will officially take over the job, replacing coach Didier Deschamps, who ended a 14-year journey at the helm of the Roosters’ coaching staff.

The move ends years of speculation, especially after the great success Zidane achieved during his coaching career with Spain’s Real Madrid from 2016 to 2018 and then from 2019 to 2021, where he won three consecutive Champions Leagues and two Spanish titles.

Deschamps bid farewell to his post after a busy career that saw him lead France to the 2018 World Cup, runners-up in 2022 and then fourth place in the last game this year.

Zidane has great achievements as a footballer, having won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France, as well as winning the Champions League in 2002 with Real Madrid. He ended his career in the 2006 World Cup final against Italy with a famous sending-off after headbutting Marco Materazzi.

Now Zizou is back to lead a new generation of French stars to more titles, with a mission that extends to the 2030 World Cup.
