Jacob Bethel could miss 100 percent with a knee injury.

England all-rounder Jacob Bethel has been ruled out of the One-Day International with a knee injury sustained during the recent one-day international against India.

Bethel was named captain of the Birmingham Phoenix for the season.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said the 22-year-old underwent an MRI on Monday but did not say when he would be back.

England’s Test series against Pakistan begins on August 19.

Bethel, who led the side in last year’s T20 series against Ireland, is seen as a future England leader, so it is hard to miss out on experience as a captain.

He will be replaced by South African Donovan Ferreira as the Phoenix champion, who is a two-time champion with Oval Invincibles.

Bethel, who plays county cricket for Warwickshire, was retained by Phoenix in a £340,000 deal at the start of the year.
