Six teams from three different continents decided to take part in the 2030 World Cup finals four years before the start of the tournament, thanks to their direct connection to the organization and hosting of the games in a historic edition that will mark a full century since the start of the first soccer World Cup.

The tournament’s three hosts, Spain, Morocco and Portugal, guaranteed their direct passage to the finals without going through the continental qualifiers after their joint bid was chosen to host the world’s biggest football event, in line with the established tradition that gives host nations automatic entry to the tournament.

In addition to the Euro-African host trio, three South American teams were able to retain their early places in the finals – Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay – despite failing to win their joint bid to host the entire tournament, following a unique decision by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to award each of these three countries the right to host the first official event. to the world championship, which was held in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, in 1930.

This historic decision by the International Federation comes as part of the honor of the South American continent, which witnessed the birth of the first World Cup a century ago, as Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will host the opening match on home soil before the tournament moves entirely to the European and African continents to complete the remaining matches.

With this early qualification, these six teams become the first to officially participate in the 2030 competition, whose final organizational system and number of participating teams is still the subject of extensive debate in the corridors of FIFA, especially given the circulation of serious proposals for the possibility of an unprecedented expansion of the tournament from 64 teams.
