A monkey was thrown into a laundry bag on the London 302 bus service.

RSPCA London Chief Inspector Clare Dew said: “No one noticed anything unusual on the bus before the monkey left but we will be looking at CCTV and logs to see if we can find whoever left her behind.

“It’s clearly intentional. This is clearly a direct result of the new law and it’s something we feared would happen. I’d be surprised if it’s the last phase we see thrown out.”

After a vet check, Oyster was given a clean bill of health and moved to a sanctuary where she was introduced to her boyfriend.

The RSPCA urges people who are struggling to care for pets or cannot get permission to abandon their pet to seek advice from an animal or animal charity.
