An amazing number.. Spain takes glory with an unprecedented historical number

Not only did the Spanish football team win their country’s second star yesterday, Sunday, by beating Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the 2026 World Cup final, but they also made unprecedented international history as Spain became the first country in the world to win the men’s and women’s World Cup titles at the same time, according to the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

Credit for this historic achievement goes to Spain’s men’s team under coach Luis de la Fuente winning the World Cup at the expense of Argentina under Lionel Messi, three years after Spain’s women’s team won the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, thus achieving a feat no other country has achieved in football history.

This record will stand at least until next summer, when the 2027 Women’s World Cup is held in Brazil, where other countries will try to match Spain’s extraordinary feat.

A series of exceptional records

Spain held several records in the United States, Canada and Mexico according to the Guinness Book of World Records, as Unai Simon, Unai Simon, recorded the most clean sheets in one game with 7 games and the fewest goals conceded with just one goal.

Spain also recorded the longest unbeaten streak in men’s football history at 38 consecutive matches, while Luis de la Fuente became the oldest World Cup-winning coach in history at the age of 65.

It is noteworthy that this title is the second for Spain in its history after the first crowning in South Africa in 2010.
