Aston Villa have signed Joao Gomez from Wolves for £38m

The Brazil international initially joined for £34m with £4m in add-ons.

Atletico Madrid have been keen on Gomes but the 25-year-old left Wolves’ training camp in Portugal on Thursday to undergo a medical and complete his trip to Villa Park.

Villa’s Amadou Onana could be sidelined until next year after suffering a serious knee injury against Belgium at the World Cup.

Gomez played 41 games for Wolves last season and finished at the bottom of the Premier League.

Since joining from Flamengo in 2023, he has played 130 times for the club and scored seven goals.
