Star of Spain. I have swallowed bitterness… and now I can retire internationally

Substitute Neco Williams played a decisive role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup crown after he scored the winning goal against Argentina, signed by Ferran Torres.

Williams arrived at the World Cup still suffering from the effects of a very difficult season, as she was plagued by injuries throughout the season, but she was not ready to give up on the World Championships.

He lost his place in the starting line-up during the tournament, but returned to appear in the final match, as he did at Euro 2024 to help lead Spain to their second World Cup title.

Nico Williams said in published statements Sports newspaper “This is unbelievable. I’ve been through hard times and bitterness, and now I’m living a moment of glory and pinnacle.”

Nico jokingly added. “It’s crazy to be world champion after a year full of suffering. For me, I can leave international football from now on.”

Despite the festive atmosphere, Lamine Yamal jokingly blamed his partner for one of the attacks that could have decided the match, but Nico explained what happened in that counterattack:

The star of Athletic Bilbao said: “I was very excited. After I passed the ball to the defender, I felt like I passed out from exhaustion. I was exhausted. Lamin told me he was alone, but I didn’t see him.”
