Bruno Mars brings his favorite, romantic and Paddington Bear to Wembley

The show began with a pre-recorded video of Mars praying for a good performance in a church, before stepping out under the views of a stained-glass window in a red dress adorned with rose petals.

It was a fittingly theatrical opening to a two hour and 15 minute set. But for those who avoided spoilers, Risk It All, a slow R&B ballad from Mars’ latest album The Romantic, was perhaps the most unexpected opener.

Any surprise moment was short lived. Within minutes, Mars sat behind two bright red congas for the Cha Cha, signaling the start of a set that moved between R&B, funk, Latin influences and pop.

“London, it’s party time,” was an early hint of what was to come.

The people quickly accepted the call. Since then, neither Mars nor his fans have stopped.

24K Magic and Dear inspired one of the biggest singalongs of the night. As Mars sang “Put Your Rings to the Moon,” thousands of tiny fingers shot into the air.
