The president of the French Federation makes new announcements about Deschamps’ successor

The president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, has announced that the name of Didier Deschamps’ successor to lead the French national team will be announced by the end of this July, amid expectations that Zinedine Zidane will take over from September 1.

“I said I would wait until the end of the World Cup, respecting the efforts of Didier and his team,” Diallo told beIN Sports ahead of Saturday’s World Cup third-place match against England in Miami. “By the end of the month, we will know the name of Didier’s successor.”

So the president of the French federation maintains ambiguity over the identity of the new coach, despite high expectations that French football legend Zidane will take over as Roosters coach, replacing Deschamps, who will play his last match today.

Ceremony honoring Deschamps

Diallo noted that the French Federation gives the opportunity to organize a ceremony in honor of Deschamps after 14 years spent as coach of the French national team, saying: “I hope that the players will be the first to greet him during the match against England.

Deschamps is considered one of the most successful managers in France’s history, having led them to victory at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and reaching the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, in addition to winning the 2021 UEFA Nations League title.

Zidane is the closest to the sequence

Zidane, who previously coached Real Madrid and led them to three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018, is the most likely candidate to replace Deschamps and is expected to officially begin his duties on September 1.
