Tour de France 2026: Tadez Pogacar extends lead after stage 14

Tadez Pogacar extended his overall lead in the Tour de France on the hilly Stage 14 course, after another dominant win as thousands of fans lined up.

The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider crossed the line on the 155.km stage from Mulhouse with Decathlon CMA-CGM’s Paul Seixas at the same time as France’s teenage sensation crossed the line 38 seconds ahead of Mexican team-mate Isaac del Toro.

Pogacker’s main rival for the yellow jersey, Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard on Visma-Lijs A Bike, finished fourth, 44 seconds down.

The leaders – which also included impressive breakaway rider Tobias Haaland Johannessen of Uno X Mobility and Ecuador’s Richard Carapaz of EF Education-Egypost – made their way through enthusiastic fans lining the narrow tarmac road of Le Markstein in the Vos mountains near the German and Swiss borders.

Vingegaard came into this three-week race in his best form since his debilitating crash in 2024, a punishing day for the man who won the Tour over Pogacar in 2022 and 2023.

For a while it looked as if Vingard would be able to hold off Pogacar’s wheel after the Slovenian launched his attack with about eight kilometers to go – the 29-year-old Vingard had set the pace himself just a few kilometers earlier.

But Pogakkar had super-high cadence and sustain, again, far surpassing all other riders.

Vingegaard now trails Pogakkar by four minutes and 30 seconds overall after that, and Pogakkar has won three more stages in this three-week Grand Tour.

Pogacar, 27, was aiming to become the joint-most successful rider in Tour history with five wins alongside Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Marcoux, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain.

“Thanks to all the fans who came out on the side of the road,” Pogakkar said afterward. “Seeing all the crowds at the top of the hill was really unforgettable – I’ve never seen anything like it (before).

“All the cyclists and riders… we have a lot of respect for each other – it’s great to be at this show and to see this kind of racing. There’s such a big crowd that it gives you (an) extra boost.”

Belgium’s Remko Evenpoel is third in the general classification at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, five minutes and four seconds down.

Lidl-Trek’s Denmark’s Mads Pedersen is in the green points jersey, while the King of the Hill jersey is Pogacker’s.
