A teenager was stuck on the M25 for eight hours in the first driver


A teenager who was driving for the first time after passing her test was stuck on the M25 for eight hours.

The crash happened near Lakeside Shopping Center in Grays, Essex at around 05:30 BST on Thursday. Big delaysDue to various problems, the road did not reopen until 20:40.

National Highways said a quarter mile (400m) of road needed to be resurfaced after the oil spill, and the cold weather has eased.

For Beatrix, the 20-minute journey with her relative ended in a long wait in gridlock, but despite the pressure, she said her driving instructor was impressed with her performance.

The 17-year-old, from Romford, east London, said: “It was me and my cousin in the car and both our phones died. So we didn’t know how to get back and we were following the road signs.

“I’ve never driven on the M25… so that was pretty scary.”
