Less than half the price. How much will Al-Nasr reap from Duran’s departure?

The Colombian forward is close to leaving Ole Park Stadium

Press reports revealed the financial details of Colombian forward John Duran’s departure from Al-Nasr club during the summer transfer period.

Media reports have confirmed that Al-Nasr have agreed to take Duran to Benfica in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan, with a clause allowing them to buy at the end.

And according to Saudi Al-Riyadiya newspaperAl-Nasr will pay around $2 million of Duran’s annual salary during his loan to Benfica, while the Portuguese club will shoulder the rest of his debts, which amount to $10 million.

At the end of the loan, Portuguese coach Marco Silva’s team will be able to acquire the Colombian forward permanently for €30 million, in addition to Al-Nasr receiving a percentage of the player’s future transfers.

The fee is less than half of what Al-Nasr paid to sign Duran in the 2025 winter transfer window when he joined from Aston Villa for €77 million.

The Colombian striker then became the second most expensive player in the history of the Saudi League, after Brazilian Neymar da Silva, who was signed by Al Hilal from PSG for €90 million in the summer of 2023.

The 22-year-old made just 18 appearances for Al-Nasr in half a season, scoring 12 goals, before moving on loan to Fenerbahce and from there to Russian side Zenit, and has not been at his best since.
