Video: Hamza Abdel Karim hints at staying in “Barcelona” with new statements

Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim has hinted at a move to Barcelona after the end of the season, with new statements following his remarkable brilliance with the youth team.

Hamza led Barcelona to a crushing 9-0 win over Monte Carlo in the last round of the domestic league, scoring three goals in just 15 minutes, a performance described by the coaching staff as his best since joining the club.

In a statement published by Ashraf Ben Ayad, a close journalist of “Barcelona”, Abdel Karim said after yesterday’s match. “Thank God. It is, of course, a pleasant feeling. The whole team is tired since the beginning of the season, and maybe I joined them in the middle of the season.”

He added: “Since I joined, the team has received me well. It wasn’t the quickest to adapt at first, but over time I learned how to adapt.”

He noted: “The team’s style of play is different from what I had in Egypt. I had to adapt to get to this stage. I’m happy and I want more, and I’m happy because I’ll continue too.”

“Thank God for the three goals. The players helped me in training from the beginning of the week and they know where my strengths are and we knew how to play for them. It could have been 4 or 5 goals, but of course, thank God.”

Abdel Karim’s statements, notably saying “I’m happy because I will also continue”, were interpreted in the Spanish press as a clear hint that he will stay at the Catalan club, given reports confirming Barcelona’s desire to activate the buyout clause in his loan deal from Egyptian side Al Ahly.

Spanish outlet Sport reported that Barcelona have officially informed the player of their intention to activate the player’s loan buyout clause in preparation for his eventual transfer to Barcelona Athletic, where he will undergo a new technical assessment to determine his readiness for a future move.

Details of the financial transaction

Egyptian side Al-Ahly are expected to receive €1.5 million for the deal, in addition to variable bonuses that could reach €5 million depending on the player’s participation and individual goals, while Al-Ahly will retain 15% of any future transfers.
