Taco Bell’s iceberg lettuce identified as a source of cyclosporiasis in 5 countries



Federal officials on Friday announced this crisp iceberg lettuce imported from Mexico and served at Taco Bell restaurants in five states is the source of CyclosporaA foodborne pathogen is causing foodborne illness across the country due to explosive diarrhea. The five states are Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia.

A subsequent investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration identified a single supplier in Mexico as the source of iceberg lettuce in Taco Bell restaurants where patients allegedly ate it. Although officials did not name the seller, sources told the Washington Post and Taylor Farms.

Taylor Farms it was also affected by many countries in 2024 E. coli outbreak linked to contaminated onions served at McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants. At the time, FDA investigators found out multiple violations at Taylor Farms in Colorado.
