San Francisco orders Apple, Google to remove porn apps from app stores



This week, San Francisco attorney general David Chiu sent cease and desist letters, demanding that Apple and Google remove 13 so-called nudification apps from their app stores, Wired reported.

Nudification apps can make it easy to turn ordinary photos of real people into pornographic images. Harmful AI tools allow criminals to remove clothing, alter a person’s appearance, place them in a sexual scene, and swap victims’ faces with other people’s bodies.

Chiu’s letter warned that app stores are violating “California laws that prohibit support services that makes for deep porn,” Wired said.
