Suffolk MP Patrick Spencer has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.

An MP accused of touching the breasts of two women at London’s Groucho club has been found guilty of sexual assault.

Patrick Spencer, MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, is accused of approaching both women in August 2023 and placing his hands on their breasts on several occasions.

The 38-year-old denied two counts of sexual assault and was found not guilty after a trial at Southwark Crown Court. When the verdict is returned, he is seen hugging his wife and crying.

The jury of eight men and four women returned the verdict after seven hours and six minutes of deliberation.

Spencer was elected as a Conservative MP in July 2024 and the party removed the whip in 2025 after accusing him of the crimes, meaning he now sits as an independent MP.

The trial heard Spencer had been on a night out with friends at the Groucho Club on August 12, 2023, before he became an MP.

He told jurors he was drunk but not out of control and CCTV showed him staggering around the scene from the night before.
