Donald Trump used his first term speech to bolster his longstanding allegations that the 2020 US presidential election was rigged. In a nearly twenty-minute speech – which some major US TV networks chose not to broadcast live – the US president made several claims about the integrity of US elections. The president has repeatedly made unproven claims about voter fraud and foreign interference in the race, which was lost to Joe Biden. Speaking from the White House on Thursday evening, he announced the release of a number of unsolicited documents revealing election meddling by foreign countries, including China. He also made claims about the reliability of the country’s electronic voting system. Sarah and Anthony get together to explain the State of the Union address and discuss whether it will help Trump pass the SAVE America Act, which would require people to present ID and proof of citizenship to vote.
