Pep supports the players, not the teams.
Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has revealed the teams he will support during the 2026 World Cup, stressing that he does not support a specific team as much as he encourages players for whom he has a special affection.
Guardiola said in an interview OKX website“I will choose the players I like in the World Cup. I will not support one team, but I will always support teams that have players that I like and have played with and I will be happy to cheer them on.”
“If Argentina win the World Cup, there are players I know and the same goes for France. As for Portugal, there are players there whose harmony I admire.”
Pep added that he will be following three teams in particular – Argentina, France and Portugal – during the tournament, given that they include names he has been linked with throughout his career.
As for his country’s national team’s chances, Guardiola spoke about Spain’s chances of winning the title on July 19, stressing that the key lies in individual talent in a collective system.
Guardiola explained that Spain has a young generation under the leadership of Pedri and Lamine Yamal, but in order to reach the title, he set the main condition, which is Rodri’s readiness. “If Rodri can prove himself in midfield alongside Pedri and Lamine, and if he is at his best, then Spain can make the difference.”
