World Snooker Championship 2026: Wu Yez in Final – Who’s Snooker’s New Superstar?

The 2025–26 season was a breakthrough campaign for Wu.

he Claimed his first ranking title At the International Championships in Nanjing last November, then reached the semi-finals of the Masters in his debut.

This form has seen her rise to 10th in the world rankings and could potentially rise to fourth if she lifts the silverware on Monday.

However, things haven’t always been easy for Wu, who told the media this week that he would buy his ideal home if he collected the £500,000 winner’s cheque.

His mother, who is in Sheffield for the tournament, still lives in China and only comes to the UK occasionally.

“There wasn’t a lot of prize money at the beginning, so there was definitely a lot of pressure and there was a lot to improve in my game, so I definitely felt the pressure at the time,” Wu said.

“I wasn’t in a good place mentally, but I’m really happy that I overcame a lot of difficulties to get to where I am today.”

Apart from his hustle and fearless attacking play, there is one more notable thing where Wu is concerned – his mullet hairstyle.

Although it was recently cancelled, it highlights that he is not afraid to show his personality in a sport known for formal attire and well-groomed looks, and that attitude can still earn him glory.
