Iran targets military bases as America launches wave of attacks

On Tuesday, Trump threatened to target Iran’s energy infrastructure if Tehran did not return to talks.

Iran’s top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, told state media that Tehran has no reason to honor any deal that is not beneficial to the country.

He added that Iran’s national security was monitoring what he described as an “Iranian arrangement” in the Sea of Hormuz.

In the latest strikes, the US targeted command centers, air defense sites and intelligence facilities off the coast of Iran – including the port city of Bandar Abbas and the Great Tanb Island – US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

An explosion was heard in Iran and air defenses were activated in Tehran, Iranian state media reported.

Soon after, US allies in the Gulf reported attacks – the Kuwaiti military said it had intercepted drone strikes, and Bahrain’s interior ministry told its citizens to stay calm and move to a nearby safe place.

Iran’s military says it has targeted US communications and oil storage facilities in Jordan in its latest round of attacks.

Separately, the US fired on an unloaded Curacao-flagged oil tanker on Wednesday, which Centcom said was trying to sail to a blockaded Iranian port.
