Hundreds have gathered at Bethesda HQ to protest the removal of Xbox, and Ars was there



ROCKVILLE, Maryland—Hundreds of Bethesda Game Studios and Zenimax Online Studios employees and supporters braved nearly 100°F temperatures to protest. sweep removed from Xbox at a luncheon in front of Zenimax’s parent headquarters today. The rally was one of five planned today by Zenimax Workers United and its parent union, the Communication Workers of America, offices in Texas, California, and Montreal.

Attendees held signs with messages such as “Layoffs… layoffs don’t change” and “Our players deserve better” as union organizers and workers rallied the crowd with speeches and music. The overwhelming message was one of solidarity and a willingness to push back against job cuts that they say have destroyed their thriving and well-proven teams.

“It’s about us building our movement and making sure we’re seen and seen,” Bethesda technology developer and volunteer organizer Nathan Hahn told Ars. “Because we want to make sure we’re not okay with the layoffs and that Xbox knows.”
