OpenAI finally introduced tools… for Codex

The device, a square-shaped keyboard called the Codex Micro, is a collaboration between an AI company and keyboard maker Work Louder. OpenAI says it’s a limited partnership that will give users more ways to monitor and manage their agents.

The pad is very similar to Work Louder’s Creator Micro 2and marketing images show what appear to be 13 mechanical switches in addition to a joystick, dial, and touch sensor. The device also looks very similar to the separate Work Louder pad made and Figma returns in 2023.

OpenAI said the Codex Micro will cost $230 and will be available at Supply Co while supplies last. It did not specify how many units are available as part of the deal.

In a video explaining the device, Work Louder co-founder Mike Di Genova said the Micro has six fifth keys that provide a “live view of the Codex thread,” using different colors to show the status of the task, whether it’s finished, needs feedback, is running, or has encountered a problem. There are also command keys that can be assigned to common actions, such as push-to-talk, accepting or rejecting updates, and sending, and the device comes with 32 additional Codex icon keys. Cheers and calls can also be used to trigger common gestures and mood changes, respectively, and OpenAI says all controls are customizable from the ChatGPT desktop app.

The device is separate from the larger OpenAI project that Ive is developing. Information on the device is limited, but reports show it will be a smart speaker that allows you to talk to ChatGPT. Rumors will begin to fade next year. The product has come under renewed scrutiny this week after Apple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. stealing hardware secretsthey object he said he doesn’t deserve it.
