Reform UK proposes £100m ‘afternoon’ security plan for MPs

Yusuf criticized the language used by rival parties about reform during a press conference in central London on the latest reform policy.

In addition, reform leader Nigel Farage said that those who say “his life is in mortal danger” and “the need for security must stop”.

“Politicians of other parties have an absolute right to oppose our policies and criticize us,” Yusuf told reporters.

“Of course, they are free to criticize us. But they must stop equating us with murderous regimes that have massacred tens of millions of people and committed some of the worst atrocities in history.”

Yusuf said: “I don’t want to see what happened to Ann happen again. This has to stop.”

He added: “If Reform wins at the next election, as Home Secretary, I will ensure that MPs of all parties are protected around the clock.”

“We will also allocate significant new resources to ensure that former politicians remain active in public life.

Yusuf said support for former politicians is “based on a risk assessment”.

The BBC’s Alex Forsyth questioned Youssef about the language he used on social media, calling Sir Kiir “sick” and “despicable” and describing the Conservatives as “open border lunatics who deserve to die”.

He accused Labor and Conservative politicians of being “traitors”.

Yusuf replied: “If you use the word ‘traitor’, for example, the definition of ‘traitor’ is a person engaged in apostasy.”

“And as far as I can tell, for example, the Conservative Party betrays the people it elected.”

“There is a clear difference,” he added, comparing his language to comments from other parties criticizing him.

A House of Commons spokesman said: “The ability of Members and their staff to safely carry out their parliamentary duties, both on and off property, is fundamental to our democracy.”

A spokesman said any assessment of an individual MP’s security arrangements or advice would be “undertaken by security experts and with input from the police and various professional authorities as a robust risk-based assessment”.

The spokesman added: “These are naturally under continuous review.”
